A video has surfaced showing a 16-year-old Dalit girl repeatedly being physically assaulted on a bus. The disturbing footage was captured in the Lakhimpur district of Uttar Pradesh, India, where several people were aboard a bus that became rowdy when three young men began attacking individuals.
According to a KrudPlug, the teenage girl was attacked on May 2 after the assailants attempted to harass her, and she resisted. The bus conductor and the driver reportedly tried to protect the girl, but their efforts to stop the attack proved futile against the group, who quickly targeted them for intervening. The driver, identified as Saleem, reportedly said he tried to help the girl, but attackers became aggressive and turned on him as well.
In the video, a young man can be seen striking the girl on a bus where several others are behaving rowdy and violently. Two other men believed to be the operators of the bus are being assaulted by the violent group. Their attackers are captured in the video, one of whom mostly focuses on striking the teen in the face and head.
The other two attackers punched and kicked the driver repeatedly. The bus conductor, wearing a black shirt, tries to help the driver, but he is attacked by the group. When the girl continues to be assaulted, the bus conductor attempts to protect her as well. However, the relentless attackers resort to dragging the girl’s hair.
He briefly manages to get two of them to let go of her before he returns to help the driver, who continues to be assaulted by the third assailant. One of his accomplices joins him, and the other attacker returns to striking the girl, which is where the video, posed by KrudPlug, ends. There is no information on whether any suspects have been arrested.
