Two men linked to the fatal Denham Town shooting have turned themselves in to police as investigations continue into the deadly home invasion that claimed the lives of a father and his young son.
The two suspects, Jubi and Romie, who were listed as persons of interest by the police, surrendered separately on Monday and Tuesday. Reports say Romie, born Decome Mahonie, turned himself in to the police late Monday evening, while 33-year-old Jubi, legally named Dwayne Bowen, turned himself in to the Hunt’s Bay Criminal Investigations Branch on Tuesday.
Police are still seeking a third suspect, identified as Joseph Kenneth Smith, also known as Beenie Bud, according to Nationwide News. Reports say the men are connected to Saturday’s shooting along Nelson Street, where gunmen entered a house and fired shots at the Pinnock family.
According to the police, both men in custody are allegedly members of the Scream Corner gang, and the killings are believed to have stemmed from rising gang conflicts in the area.
The attack resulted in the deaths of 3-year-old Jase ‘Zaza’ Pinnock and his father, Kerrio Pinnock. Jase was pronounced dead when he arrived at the hospital, and Kerrio ‘Boysie’ died on Monday while hospitalised. A third victim, Kerrio’s 8-year-old son, was previously reported to be treated and released, but Nationwide News updated that the child continues to receive treatment at the hospital.
The double murder has left relatives grieving and residents shocked by the brazen home invasion. The murders have sparked outrage across the nation and concern about the safety of children, as this follows a separate incident in which a 4-year-old girl named Saniyah OBrien was gunned down. The child was shot while she was in a vehicle with her father, who was hospitalised with injuries. Police later arrested 25-year-old Oneish ‘Dabba’ Copeland for the gun attack.
