Two young girls were run over by a train over the weekend when they attempted to speed across the tracks on a motorcycle in Thailand. The teens were killed near the Khuan Mit Railway Station in Chana District, Songkhla Province, on June 7.
A nearby CCTV camera captured the chilling moments when a motorcycle was struck by the approaching train in Khlong Pia Subdistrict. While the names of the victims were not released, they were identified as being ages 14 and 15.
The video shows the motorcycle approaching the tracks without slowing down despite the incoming train. They begin to cross the tracks, and the train rams into them when the motorcycle makes it halfway. The motorcycle is tossed to the side while the girls end up under the train.
According to KrudPlug, the harrowing incident was reported to the Khuan Mit Police Station, and officers responded to the scene. When police arrived, they discovered a white Suzuki Smash motorcycle near the tracks while the bodies of the teens remained on the tracks, some feet from where they were hit. The victims that the motorcycle was carrying were crushed under the express train Thaksin 38.
The train, which travels from Su-ngai Kolok to Bangkok, was making its way into the station when the incident happened. It came to a stop at km. 954/3. The teens were reported to be residents of Songkhla Province, and their bodies were transported to Chana Hospital, where the autopsy will be conducted.
When the train driver spoke to officers, police were told that he sounded the horn to warn the teens and attempted to slow the train, but he was unable to prevent the tragedy. During the probe, police reviewed the CCTV footage and came to the conclusion that the girls did not wait for the train to pass, believing they could get across in time.
