Children continue to be abandoned at the US border by smugglers. The latest news report confirms that a smuggler swiftly returned to Mexico after dropping off a 5-year-old girl and a 9-year-old girl across the border.
The little migrant girls were ditched by the smugglers over the weekend, according to the details disclosed by the authorities. The children were found by troopers in Eagle Pass, Texas, and were handed over to the US Border Patrol.
According to the report, when the children were discovered on Saturday, one of them was seen holding a piece of paper. The New York Post reported that the paper only featured an address and a telephone number without any names. The children, who are residents of El Salvador, were photographed holding up the piece of paper.
The picture, showing the little girls dressed in black T-shirts, was shared on the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter.
This picture marks the seemingly growing trend of unaccompanied children being abandoned at the border. Most of the migrant children only carried a note with numbers or addresses that reportedly belonged to relatives who were residing in the United States.
One of the most recent incidents involved a child who was only 2 years old. The child, a little girl from El Salvador, ignited fury online when a video was posted on social media showing her at the border with hopes of locating her parents after reportedly travelling there alone.
According to the New York Post, the Customs and Border Protection data recorded that over 529,000 migrant children entered the United States during Biden’s time as president, and over 320,000 of the unaccompanied migrant children are now unaccounted for.
