The death of a nine-year-old girl at her home on Job Lane in Spanish Town, St. Catherine, on Friday has prompted police to open a serious inquiry. After the incident, a person of interest was listed.
The girl has been identified as Kelsey Ferrigon, whose partially nude body was found upside down in a barrel at her residence at approximately 8:00 p.m. Investigators speculate that she was sexually raped because her body seems to have been beaten.
Giovanni Ellis, also known as “Coolie Man,” has been identified by the Criminal Investigations Branch detectives as a person of interest in the case. Ellis should notify the Spanish Town Police right away.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Wayne Josephs, head of the Criminal Investigations Branch, stated that the police are conducting a thorough investigation.
“Our entire force and, I’m sure, Jamaica as a whole have been rocked by Kelsey’s vicious attack and death. ACP Josephs stated, “We are using every available resource, including our forensic teams, investigators, and intelligence networks, to pursue and apprehend the monster responsible for this act relentlessly.”
“We must bring this person to justice as soon as possible for Kelsey, her family, and all Jamaican children,” he continued.
According to the Jamaica Constabulary Force, it vehemently denounces this crime and reaffirms its commitment to go after anyone who jeopardizes the lives and welfare of people, particularly children.
Anyone with information regarding Giovanni Ellis’ whereabouts is asked to contact the Spanish Town Criminal Investigations Branch at 876-984-2305, the National Intelligence Bureau at 811, Crime Stop at 311, or police 119 emergency. The police are asking the public for help in finding him.
