There has been another horrific plane crash in the United States, days after the tragic midair collision in Washington DC. The latest plane crash occurred in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on Friday evening near Roosevelt Mall.
A report stated that a small plane crashed near Roosevelt Boulevard and Cottoman Avenue, which is three miles from the Northeast Philadelphia Airport.
According to preliminary reports, a Learjet 55 departed from Northeast Philadelphia Airport and was heading to Springfield-Branson National Airport in Missouri when it crashed around 6:30 p.m.
The New York Post reported that the plane was reportedly on a medical assignment. The small plane was carrying two passengers when it crashed, as per the preliminary report. According to the New York Post, there have been reports of multiple deaths. Subsequent report confirmed that 6 people were on the plane and they died in the crash. The cause of the crash is also unclear.
The crash resulted in a large explosion that illuminated the sky and caused burning debris to scatter, setting multiple homes on fire.
Footage from a doorbell camera shows the plane nosediving before the massive explosion occurs.
More footage from a local was shared online, showing the burning crash site and flames engulfing the side of a building. The man filming the incident expresses his shock while showing the disaster.
Additional footage from Fox29 shows police and firefighters on the scene, and smoke fills the air. Debris from the plane is also captured in the mall’s parking lot.
