An incident that started as road rage turned into a deadly shooting in Florida on Saturday. The horrific incident that claimed the life of one individual and left another critically injured was captured on camera on Highway 231 in Panama City.
According to the New York Post, two men were arguing on the highway and returned to their vehicles moments before the shooting. In the footage obtained by Moon 10, two men can be seen interacting at a traffic light. Shortly after, one of the men enters the rare seat of a red GMC Terrain SUV, and the other hesitates at the driver’s door.
This prompts the driver of a grey Dodge Ram pickup truck behind them to yell at him to get back in the vehicle. Before he could return the vehicle, the red light changed to green. The second he enters the vehicle, the driver of the truck swerves around him, pulls alongside, and multiple shots are fired. The New York Post reported that eleven shots were heard.
Immediately after the shots are heard, the truck speeds off, leaving the SUV at the traffic light. When police arrived at the scene, two people were found inside the SUV with gunshot wounds, per a report.
The wounded victims received treatment at the scene and were later transported to the hospital when EMS arrived. One of the victims succumbed to their injuries, according to WJHG. The authorities shared that the other victim was hospitalised in critical condition.
According to the New York Post, the police chased the truck involved in the deadly road rage and found two individuals inside. The suspects, Jubal Simmons and Ivybella Encino, were arrested and charged.
Jubal Simmons is allegedly the shooter and has been charged with premeditated homicide-murder in the first degree. He is also facing a charge of tampering with evidence, per report.
