A 50-year-old man from Mandeville has been charged with murdering 2 women at the candlelight vigil last weekend. The suspect has been identified as Patrick Thompson, who is a licensed firearm holder. Thompson is accused of killing two women and wounding three other people.
Thompson, a telephone engineer/technician, is facing two counts of murder and three counts of wounding with intent.
On Wednesday, February 26, 2025, Thompson was interviewed by Area Three Major Investigations Division (MID) detectives. Thompson, a resident of Levy Lane, was formally charged on Thursday, February 27, 2025.
According to a news report, the charges were laid sometime before 4:00 p.m., and he may receive additional charges.
The weekend incident involved a motor vehicle collision at a candlelight vigil that ignited a dispute. According to the report, the collision occurred on Nashville Road off Levy Lane in Mandevilleport. The police reported that a licensed firearm holder parked his car in an open lot near his, which lot separates his residence from the house where the candlelight vigil was hosted.
Someone was leaving the candlelight vigil and reportedly hit his vehicle, and when the firearm holder witnessed this, he and the other driver got into a dispute. The confrontation between the two men led to others joining the argument.
The firearm holder allegedly withdrew his gun and discharged his weapon. He reportedly fired several shots, hitting multiple people. Some of the victims were either treated and released from a hospital or admitted. A 12-year-old boy was also shot, and he was transported to a hospital, where he was treated and released.
Two women sustained gunshot injuries and were later pronounced dead. The women were later identified as 35-year-old Aldeen Dixon from the Coleyville district in northeast Manchester and 42-year-old Stacy Ann Mulgrave from the Barnstable district near Mandeville.
The suspected shooter reportedly turned himself in to the police at the Mandeville Police Station.
