Jamaicans are excited after Ghanaian-American singer Moliy landed in Jamaica yesterday to shoot the music video for her Shake It To The Max remix. The remix features dancehall sensations Shenseea and Skillibeng, who added their unique Jamaican flow and style to the track. This remix is only one of several, as a number of entertainers have dropped verses to the hit songs.
Dancehall veteran Elephant Man and London rapper Stefflon, and dancehall star Vybz Kartel are among the entertainers who released verses, and Moliy has shown interest to work with multiple of them.
The singer’s infectious Shake It To The Max single blew up on TikTok after it was released last year. The song started a dance challenge that took over social media. The groovy dancing song has amassed more than 7 million views on YouTube since it dropped on December 3.
After Skillibeng and Shenseea dropped their verses for a remix, Moliy endorsed them and revealed that she would be collaborating with the entertainers. The singer has been enjoying her trip to Jamaica, which can be seen in multiple videos shared online. This marks Moliy’s first time visiting the tropical island.
Following her arrival, she attended Uptown Mondays, a popular local event. She was also spotted interacting with the entertainer Elephant Man. At the event, she shared the stage with Shenseea and Skillibeng. Footage of their memorable moment on stage shows Moliy doing the popular TikTok dance with Shenseea while Skillibeng performs the remix.
On Tuesday, another video shows her trying the local food she was served for breakfast. She shared what she disliked about the food, and rated it an overall “good breakfast.” However, many Jamaicans were not pleased with the food, expressing that the food was not a good representation of the local cuisine.
One viewer said, “Only real Jamaicans will know that hotel food in Jamaica is NOT authentic Jamaican food.”
Another viewer commented, “That’s not bbc Jamaican breakfast! Who gi the woman dat? Kmt.”
