Dhana Warren, the Jamaican woman who issued threats in a circulating video after the death of gang leader Othneil ‘Thickman’ Lobban, has once again been denied bail. Warren was charged with malicious communication and was remanded in court on Tuesday.
The 22-year-old woman was arrested in May Pen, Clarendon, after she reportedly shared a video online, confidently speaking about retaliation that will leave Spanish Town in shambles and cause devastation after the reputed don was shot by the police during a confrontation.
On Tuesday, Warren’s lawyer, Rodain Richardson, presented arguments to a judge in the St. Catherine Parish Court explaining why his client should be released on bail. Richardson said that the accused, who lives in May Pen, Clarendon, did not have any affiliation with gangsters in St. Catherine.
Richardson also presented an argument about dancehall artist Kiprich, who was charged with allegedly endorsing gang violence in a song that pays tribute to Lobban. Richardson referenced the case, highlighting that Kiprich, who denied the allegation, has been released on bail.
According to the Jamaica Gleaner, Richardson told the judge, “Your honour, I have noticed in recent times someone else has been charged similarly but benefitted from bail. I think it is only fitting for bail to be considered.”
However, the judge expressed that Warren’s charges are serious. According to the report, the judge is yet to see new evidence that justifies a grant for bail. A psychiatric evaluation report was ordered for Warren, but the report’s results are still outstanding. Warren’s case has been scheduled to return to court on April 1.
The One Order Gang leader was slain during an alleged confrontation involving the police Joint Anti-Gang Task Force (JAGTF) at Six Miles St. Andrew. The Jamaica Observer reported that Othniel “Thickman” Lobban was one of the most influential dons in Jamaica’s criminal underworld.
Sources told the media that he was significantly involved in shootings, murders, extortion, and gang-related activities in various areas like Eltham Park, Jobs Lane, Cedar Valley, and James Mountain in St. Catherine and sections of Mountain View Avenue in St. Andrew.
