Dancehall artiste Squash was apprehended by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency after being arrested on gun-related charges in Florida. The Jamaican deejay was revealed to be in ICE custody days after reports circulated that he was released from jail on bail.
Speculation of his release ignited after police records surfaced showing that he was no longer at the Miami-Dade County Sheriff’s Office. Previous police records showed that a bond of $3000 US was set for the entertainer, and an immigration hold was placed on the Montego Bay deejay.
Based on new circulating documents, it seems that the Big Breeze artiste was transferred to an ICE-operated detention centre. Information from the agency’s website detailed that the artiste, born Andre Whittaker, is being held at the Krome North Service Processing Centre (SPC) in Florida.
Squash is scheduled to appear in court on March 26 at 9:15 AM. Squash is facing multiple charges, including carrying a concealed weapon and possession of a machine gun, a short-barrel shotgun, and a rifle. He was reportedly arrested on February 25.
Squash’s current detainment at the detention centre marks his second arrest by ICE. Squash was first arrested in the U.S. on immigration-related charges in Florida in 2023. Reports state that he overstayed on his work visa, which led to him being arrested. In May 2024, it was announced that he was being held at the ICE-operated detention centre, Krome North Service Processing Centre, in Miami.
Social media users have been reacting with shock following news of him being in ICE custody. His mother, Shelly, has not yet reacted to the new circulating update on his legal troubles. When news of his arrest first surfaced, prompting criticisms, Shelly clapped back at naysayers. The public is also waiting for the reaction of Squash’s rival, Blamdem, who previously rejoiced over his arrest and mocked his mother, prompting Shelly to include him in her rant without directly calling his name.
