American rapper Boosie Badazz’s concert came to an abrupt end after shots were fired inside the venue. Boosie escaped unharmed, but three people sustained injuries. Boosie hosted his concert at the Field House Lounge in Akron, Ohio. The shooting occurred in the middle of the show early Monday morning.
At least one shot was fired during Boosie’s performance onstage, Akron PD Deputy Chief Michael Miller told TMZ. Footage of the incident shows Boosie reacting to the gunshot by flinching and ducking as if it narrowly missed him, per the report.
The video begins with the rapper having a good time on stage as patrons cheer. Suddenly a shot is heard, prompting Boosie to duck. Boosie reportedly ran for cover while the attendees scattered as the shots continued to ring out. The video concludes with people scattering and shoving each other.
Two men, ages 18 and 36, were inside the bar area when they sustained gunshot wounds to the torso. A bullet grazed another man who was outside the venue. The shooter reportedly fled the scene on foot.
The venue had security at the front entrance, which performed checks like patting down patrons and scanning them to ensure no weapons entered the lounge. However, Miller told TMZ that the gunman is believed to have gained entrance to the lounge by sneaking through a blind spot or a side door. A public apology was issued by the venue regarding the shooting.
According to TMZ, the police have not yet determined the motive, but they do not believe the Louisiana rapper was the target. It is alleged that the shooter got into a dispute with someone else and discharged his weapon, firing at least two shots from a semiautomatic, per the report. The police recovered a pair of shell casings at the scene. Investigators are currently probing if any surveillance cameras captured the incident.
