A policewoman accidentally shot a man instead of deploying a taser. The video of the incident was shared on X on March 10 and has since garnered millions of views. The short footage begins with the man and another female officer in a tussle along the street. The altercation erupted near a vehicle where the officer and the man were standing.
The man can be seen attacking the officer, causing the tussle. The officer tries to restrain the man, but he overpowers her and slams her body to the ground. When the fight started, a policewoman jumped out of the vehicle and rushed to help.
When she is standing over the man who has the officer pinned to the ground, she attempts to pull him off with one hand while reaching for her weapon with the other and discharges her gun. The man screams when he is shot, falls to the ground, and the policewoman says, “Oh shit, I shot him.”
The two officers proceed to detain the man while he continues to cry in pain. Other officers arrive at the scene before the seventeen-second-long concludes.
After the video, which has reached over 2 million views, was shared online, it was flooded with approving comments. One viewer blamed the makeshift taser, saying, “When you make a non-lethal or less-lethal weapon act like, feel like, and be applied like a deadly force weapon, this will happen.” More than a thousand users agreed with the comment.
More than 2000 viewers agreed with a comment that said the man “deserved it” for “assaulting an officer.” Many viewers indicated that the incident was justified given that the man was resisting arrest.
Another viewer said, “Female officers are an enormous handicap. DEI takes lives, not saves them.”
Someone else wrote, “Clean shoot. Dude was beating the back of the head of the officer. Procedural mistake, but clean shoot and target neutralised regardless.”
