Yesterday, a bus conductor was fatally attacked in downtown Kingston, apparently due to a disagreement about $150.
‘Paul’, whose real name was Kemar Myrie, 36, of Top Temple Hall in St. Catherine, has been identified as the deceased. Around 12:20 p.m., the event took place on Orange Street close to Heywood Street. Myrie and a bus driver got into a fight, according to reports from the police’s Corporate Communications Network. According to reports, the driver got out of the bus he was driving, went up to Myrie, and stabbed him in the left side of his neck before making his getaway on foot. After being taken to the hospital by a friend, Myrie was declared dead.
Blood was spilled inside the bus from the third row of seats, and the horrific attack left the passengers traumatized. Still clearly scared, one higgler expressed gratitude that her granddaughter had gotten off the bus immediately before the fatal altercation.
“When the man rushes onto the bus, I sit here and poop. “I just heard the commotion, but I’m not sure what it is,” she recounted. “I called my granddaughter back to pick up something for my daughter while she was on the bus. Since I was traumatized just by seeing the blood through the window, she most likely would have been stabbed as well.
As passengers frantically tried to flee the horrifying scene, another bystander recounted the chaos that broke out.
“The bus is packed with people! The two of them start off with a load dem a load. The individual said, “A through the window nuff a dem climb.”
Myrie’s longtime colleagues were shocked, finding it hard to comprehend how a man they knew well could be killed over such a trivial disagreement.
We’ve known Kemar for a while, and we all work together. The conductor remarked, “I can’t believe he died over $150.”
