Footage has surfaced online showing two teenagers being shot in a store after attacking another young man. The video, which has gone viral after it was posted on X on Tuesday, shows an incident that took place inside a Portsmouth, Virginia, store that left two people critically injured and a 19-year-old boy in custody.
In the video, one of the assailants grabs hold of the young man’s foot, hauling him to the floor, where they both go down and start to tussle. The second assailant stands by, seemingly ready to assist. A tense scuffle breaks out between the young man and his attacker. It appears to be only the three of them inside the store at the time, apart from the store clerk who is seen ducking behind the counter for safety when the gunshots start firing.
The targeted man suddenly brandishes a handgun, and without hesitation, he fires at his attacker. The attacker’s accomplice attempts to flee but falls and tries to crawl away from the scene. It is unclear if he was hit at that moment, but as the armed man exits the store, he fires another shot in his direction, leaving both of the attackers lying on the ground.

An additional post shared more detail on the incident, reporting that the incident occurred at the Shoppes at Town Pointe shopping center, located on the 3500 block of Towne Point Road, on Sunday, February 23, 2025. Portsmouth police responded to the scene at around 9:15 a.m. and discovered two male victims, ages 17 and 18, suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds.
The teens were rushed to the hospital, where they were later reported to be in stable condition. The shooter was later identified as 19-year-old Raquan Delvonta Avery. Avery was captured on surveillance footage entering the store first, according to the post.
The two men followed Avery inside, and a physical altercation ensued, leading to the shooting. The report stated that Avery fired a final shot at the 18-year-old, who was seen crawling away. Avery fled the scene in a green, two-door Acura.
Two days later, on February 25, Avery was arrested at a residence on County Street in Portsmouth. He now faces multiple charges, including aggravated malicious wounding, shooting within a building, and possession of a concealed weapon. Authorities also linked him to an unrelated shooting in Chesapeake.
