Jamaican artiste Ding Dong has been a major force behind some of dancehall’s most popular party anthems for years. He is renowned for his high-energy dance songs, so fans are excited that his long-awaited debut album is on the horizon. He has been dominating the dance scene for decades, and now his new album, From Ding Dong to the World Ding, marks an exciting new chapter.
The Badman Forward Badman Pull Up hitmaker recently announced that his album is set to drop on May 2, 2025. Ding Dong described the project as a reflection of his evolution as an artist. “This album is the evolution of Ding Dong. I want to show people that I am a rounded artist, not just a dancer,” he told Billboard during an interview.
Over the years, Ding Dong’s contribution to dancehall, such as his energetic tracks and viral dance moves, has played a significant role in shaping dancehall culture. He revealed that his project comprises 13 tracks, which includes an impressive lineup of collaborators.
The project will feature prominent artistes like Skeng, Skillibeng, Govana, and rap legend Busta Rhymes. Fans can also expect a nostalgic throwback with a remix of his breakout hit Badman Forward Badman Pull Up, this time featuring Skillibeng.
Ding Dong gave fans a glimpse of what to expect when he released the project’s lead single, Street Jump, featuring Skeng. This energetic music video is already making waves, garnering over 266,000 views since its release on March 27. The song fuses hip-hop with dancehall and samples Kris Kross’ huge 1992 hit Jump. Since its release, fans have been praising the high-energy visuals and infectious rhythm.
“This style of dancehall hasn’t been done on an album in a long time. I never knew the difficulties and the challenges of doing an album. It’s not a simple thing to get [samples] cleared, so I think the time is now. I am always current. It’s God’s will!” he continued.
He also said that he did his breakout single to make a mark as a dancer, and now he is gearing up to release an album that marks his evolution from a dancer to a full-on recording artiste.
