A 17-year-old is facing a murder charge after he allegedly stabbed another teenager to death at a high school track meet. The harrowing incident that has sparked outrage occurred at Frisco Independent School District’s Kuykendall Stadium in Frisco, Texas, on Wednesday morning.
NBC News cited a police report that said the police were alerted to the stabbing incident around 10:00 a.m. The incident reportedly stemmed from a confrontation between 17-year-old Karmelo Anthony and 16-year-old Austin Metcalf. According to the report, emergency responders just rushed to the scene and performed life-saving measures, including CPR and administering blood.
However, Austin succumbed to his injuries. Karmelo was subsequently arrested and charged. He is currently in police custody with no bond set as yet. The victim’s father, Jeff Metcalf, recounted the heart-wrenching details of the incident, saying his son was attacked by a teenage boy who became violent after he told me he was in the wrong seat, per the report.

Metcalf said the suspect was armed with a knife, and his son did not know him. He also shared that his son’s identical twin brother, Hunter, was nearby when the confrontation unfolded. Hunter saw when his twin was stabbed and attended to the wound, trying to prevent his brother from bleeding out.
“They were twins, identical twins, and his brother was holding on to him, trying to make it stop bleeding, and he died in his brother’s arms,” Metcalf stated. The father said he became deeply concerned when he saw all the blood his son had lost, and Austin was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Metcalf, visibly distraught, described his son as a “leader” while discussing the promising future his late son had, which included college. He noted Austin had a 4.0 GPA and was MVP on the football team. “He was on the right track,” Metcalf said. “He was loved by many,” he added.

Metcalf also questioned the suspect’s upbringing, highlighting the fact that the student was armed at a track meet. While heartbroken, he expressed that he has forgiven the suspect for the heinous act and leaves everything to God.
“He brought a knife to a track meet, and he murdered my son by stabbing him in the heart. The guy was in the wrong place, and they asked him to move, and he bowed up. This is murder,” he continued.
