Dancehall artiste Lisa Hyper seems to be retracting the strong rape allegations she made against dancehall icon Beenie Man. The embattled artiste recently reconnected with Beenie Man and made peace with him at an event. Following the event, she issued a public apology on social media for her disparaging remarks on Monday.
Lisa Hyper made the rape allegations during a social media live stream in late February. During her internet tirade, she mentioned a past assault and accused Beenie Man of being the offender.
“A Beenie Man rape me… Beenie Man raped me, since you all want to know,” Lisa Hyper had said in the live stream and claimed that Vybz Kartel hints at the incident when he uses the slang, “It a tape, Gaza nuh rape.”
In the latest post that Lisa made on Instagram, Lisa and Beenie Man made amends at Boom Sundays on April 20. Lisa, dressed in a provocative burgundy outfit, can be seen embracing Beenie Man while speaking to him.
The apology written in the caption below expressed her regret as she admitted that her previous comments were made during a manic episode. “First thing I wanna do is apologize to you for what I said the other day when I wasn’t myself,” the statement said.
She expressed that Beenie Man is among those who have always stood by her side when she faced personal challenges and obstacles in her career. “You have always been there for me personally and musically and I just want you to know i will never forget that,” she continued.
Lastly, she extended her gratitude to him, saying, “Thankyou @kingbeenieman for being one of my mentors and your contribution you gave to my career .” At the end of the apology, she acknowledged him as a “True King.”
Beenie Man, who did not respond to the allegations, was one of the people Lisa targeted while she was struggling with her mental health. She hurled accusations at several former Gaza members, many of whom did not respond.
