As Jamaican artiste Vybz Kartel continues to reclaim his spot in the international music scene, he released a new dancehall track laced with hip-hop sounds. His latest song, Join The Team, samples megastar rapper Busta Rhyme’s classic hit Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Can See. Vybz Kartel’s groovy new song endorses the playboy, or what Jamaicans call the ‘gyalis’ lifestyle.
Join The Team, released on April 22, features explicit lyrics in which Vyz Kartel uses his lyrical charm and charisma to pursue a woman. In the Big Win Music-produced song, Vyz Kartel is portrayed as a flirtatious man who keeps a roster of women who can not resist him.
Right off the jump, the song starts with explicit lyrics as he poses sexual questions to his admirers. He expresses that he is unconcerned about the relationships of the women he is pursuing and adds that he is not “really a one burner”. This references past statements he made regarding his loyalty to his fiancée, Sidem Öztürk.
As the song continues, he jokes about impregnating the women he is pursuing and warns his admirers that being with him comes with certain struggles, including being targeted by other jealous women who want their position.
“If you really want to join the team, longest line you will ever see,” he deejays, adding that women of all races are lining up to be with him.
The vibrant visuals showcase Vybz Kartel with several video vixens who are all in skimpy outfits. He dances with them and caresses their bodies. Additional scenes show Skatta Burrell banging a drum and vibing to the music with privately dressed women. Vybz Kartel is also captured playing a guitar as he deejays.
Just a few hours after its release, the track amassed thousands of views and likes on YouTube. As the numbers continue to climb, fans have been expressing their admiration for the track. Many believe that the song’s catchy lyrics and infectious vibe will make it a banger.
