Footage has been released of a man being murdered during a broad daylight gun attack allegedly fuelled by jealousy. The victim, Luis Nelson dos Santos, was gunned down in Brazil, where he was hanging out with associates in the area of Zachia, Passo Fundo.
A premeditated and emotionally charged attack occurred around 5:40 p.m. on Sunday. Surveillance footage from a nearby camera shows a group of men gathered near parked cars having a good time. The victim, dressed in black, takes up a foldable chair and walks along the side of a red car, which is when explosions are heard.
Two men on a motorcycle approach Santos, and one of them opens fire. Santos attempts to run but collapses near his associates, who begin to flee. The armed man ignores everyone else, including another man directly in the line of fire, and briefly stops at the spot as he continues to shoot Santos on the ground.
In a matter of seconds, the attackers sped off, leaving Santos critically wounded. His associates can be seen returning to check on him after the assailants fled the scene. He was reportedly hit by at least six bullets, and he succumbed to his injuries.
The Civil Police have launched an investigation led by delegate Carolina Goulart, who confirmed that jealousy may have been the motive behind the fatal shooting. While she withheld further details due to the sensitive nature of the case, Goulart revealed that one of the suspects had already been identified. Authorities are now working urgently to identify and locate the second individual involved.
As of now, no arrests have been made, according to the latest report. On Monday, Santo’s loved ones held his wake at the Zachia Community Gymnasium. On Tuesday, Santos was laid to rest at the Ribeiros Cemetery.
