Police have launched a manhunt for a man who has been named a person of interest in the murder of his three daughters. The little girls were reported missing days before they were found dead in Washington State.
The victims, 9-year-old Paityn, 8-year-old Evelyn, and 5-year-old Olivia Decker, were discovered lifeless on Monday, June 2, a few days after they failed to return home after a scheduled visit with their father. The sisters had last been seen on Friday, May 30, when they left with their father, Travis Decker, for a planned visitation.
Around 3:45 p.m. on Monday, the father’s vehicle, a white 2017 GMC Sierra pickup, was traced to Rock Island Campground in Chelan County, according to police. The corpses were subsequently found, but the specific location was not disclosed by authorities.
Additionally, police have not yet confirmed the cause of death. The 32-year-old father’s whereabouts are currently unknown, and the police have urged the public to reach out if they have any information that can lead to the arrest of the father.
Officers are actively searching for the accused to arrest and formally charge him with three counts of first-degree murder and one count of kidnapping. Police have warned the public that he may be dangerous because he has prior military experience.
According to reports, the visitation was in line with a parenting plan, but Decker violated the agreement when he failed to return the children and could no longer be contacted. The girls were initially listed as endangered, and the Washington State Patrol issued an alert on May 31, asking the public for help.
Decker, described as a 5 feet 8 inches male who was close to 200 pounds, was said to be homeless. He was reportedly either living in his vehicle, staying at motels or sleeping at campgrounds. The missing person alert was cancelled on June 2 following the discovery of the girls.
