Six Jamaicans were killed while heading to a birthday celebration in Osceola County, Florida. The family ended up in a flaming collision on State Road 60 on Saturday afternoon. Reports say that the vehicle occupied by Jamaicans consisted of two sisters, Andreil and Keiosha Anderson. The pair mothered three children, who were all travelling with them.
The youngest child is reported to be just four months old. The vehicle also carried Yahshea Mullings, the god-sister of the young women. All six were piled into a 2024 Hyundai Tucson, and they were headed westbound toward a three-year-old’s birthday party. However, they never made it to the event as their SUV crossed into oncoming traffic.
While it is unclear who was driving, Florida Highway Patrol reported that the driver shifted into the eastbound lane to pass slower vehicles. However, when the driver attempted to return west, things became horrific when the driver lost control of the vehicle.
In that sudden moment when control was lost, a 2011 semi-truck flew toward them from the opposite direction. The truck driver collided with the left side of the SUV, triggering a fiery explosion that consumed both vehicles.
Emergency crews arrived to find the family trapped inside the Hyundai, which was engulfed.
Afterwards, all six occupants, including the truck’s single driver, were pulled from the wreckage. However, the sisters, their three children, and Yahshea were pronounced dead at the scene. A 36-year-old Miami Gardens resident was identified as the driver of the truck involved. He suffered minor injuries in the crash and was treated at a hospital.
Grief has swallowed the Anderson household following the devastating car crash. Their patriarch, Errol Anderson, now mourns five loved ones at once, his daughters and their children. According to a report, Anderson is a Manchester native, particularly from Caymanas Gardens. Yahshea’s mother’s grief runs deep, too. The distraught mother told the media that her daughter aspired to be a neurosurgeon, a dream cut tragically short.
