A 4-year-old Indian girl died after falling out of a window. The child was inside an apartment building in Vasai, Maharashtra, where she and her mother had been visiting a family member. According to reports, the mother and daughter were about to leave a family member’s flat on the 12th floor. The incident happened around 8:30 p.m. on July 22. The disturbing incident, captured on a surveillance camera, began when the mother stepped out of the relative’s apartment.
The footage shows the mother leaving the apartment while the child waits near the entrance. Shoes are laid out near a shoe rack in the corridor. The child slips her tiny feet into her mother’s slippers and begins walking off, but her mother grabs her.
Soon after, the mother lifts her daughter and places her to sit on a shoe rack located dangerously close to an open window. As the mother puts on her slippers, the child stands and attempts to sit on the ledge. However, she loses her balance and falls out of the window, and the fall happens so fast that by the time the mother can react, it is already too late.
The distressed mother begins screaming as she looks out the window, triggering panic, and a man is seen rushing down the stairs. Neighbours, alerted by the sudden commotion, came out of their homes. One woman even climbed onto the same shoe rack to look outside, seemingly in disbelief. In the video, which is nearly two minutes long, the corridor became busy with bustling residents.
The child was found lifeless on the ground floor. Naigaon Police Station dispatched officers to the scene after being alerted and confirmed the child had died on the spot. Authorities have recorded the incident as an accidental death, and while there is no suspicion of foul play, the police are continuing standard procedures in their investigation.
