The Jamaican TikTok community is grappling with shock following the alleged suicide of a user known as Trish Doll. Trish, a transgender woman and a friend of fellow TikToker Candy, reportedly took her own life during a live stream, leaving viewers in disbelief.
According to multiple TikTok users, Trish was seeking financial assistance to leave the country. While some claim she did not receive the help, others argue that she was receiving donations.
The incident is said to have occurred on Thursday night. A viewer who tuned into the live stream claims that in Trish’s final moments, she spoke about not receiving help before she went for a rope. The viewer said they heard Trish gasping for air while off-camera shortly after. Moments later, Trish’s boyfriend reportedly found her body, and his voice was heard in the background as the stream continued.

It is alleged that Trish had suicidal thoughts before she committed suicide, as Trish had previously spoken about ending her life, according to a TikToker. One viewer, while recounting the event to Candy, mentioned that Trish had shared her suicidal thoughts in the past but had been discouraged by her boyfriend.
In previous videos, she has spoken about facing death threats, being targeted by men, and suffering past trauma, including rape. She said she refrained from reporting the latter crime due to fear of ridicule. Additionally, she expressed that her life was in danger in her old neighbourhood and that relocation was necessary for her safety.
Following the incident, Candy shared that the hormones transgender women take can sometimes affect their mental health and emphasised the importance of having proper counselling or emotional support during the process.
The live stream has sparked a mix of emotions. While some have expressed sadness and frustration that Trish’s cries for help may have been overlooked, others are calling for proof of her death. A few users speculate that the incident could be a prank, pointing to the absence of an official confirmation.
