A man was arrested for murder after surveillance footage captured him stabbing his ex-girlfriend to death. The incident happened in the Jacintinho community of Maceió, Brazil, where the pair met up on Friday night (August 22).
Reports say the meeting was arranged for the victim, Roseane Tenório dos Santos Jerônimo, to return a ring she had been given by the suspect, Erick Lucas da Silva. However, the meeting to close a chapter between them turned violent on Rua Guilherme Rogato when the suspect followed the victim and attacked her.
According to investigators, da Silva attacked Roseane with a knife, stabbing her more than nine times. He reportedly inflicted stab wounds to her head, neck, chest, arms, legs, and back.
Despite the quick arrival of emergency responders, Roseane did not survive her injuries. Security camera footage later confirmed the brutality of the attack, showing da Silva restraining Roseane with a chokehold before knocking her to the ground and repeatedly stabbing her.

After the assault, he fled with her handbag and mobile phone. Police say he tossed her belongings onto a rooftop in an attempt to cover his tracks. Both items were discovered by officers, who later confirmed that the ring was the reason for the planned meeting based on the messages the victim exchanged with the suspect.
Hours later, police tracked the suspect to an area in Grota do Pau D’Arco. He was arrested and confessed to the crime, telling investigators that he had been in a relationship with Roseane for about five months. He said when it came to an end, he could not accept it.
Delegate Tamires Jade, who is overseeing the case, highlighted da Silva’s history of violent and criminal behaviour. His record includes prior charges for drug trafficking, threats, property damage, bodily harm, and domestic violence.
Authorities say he remains in custody as legal proceedings continue. They also stressed their commitment to fighting femicide and domestic abuse, urging the public to report cases of threats or violence before they escalate.
