A Trelawny f captured in a viral video showing him brutally attacking a woman with a machete has been arrested and charged. The man, identified as 42-year-old Cleon Buckle of Freeman’s Hall district in Albert Town, was charged with unlawful wounding following the attack that occurred on September 14.
Police say the confrontation began when a woman went to Buckle’s home around 10:30 a.m. to collect a car key. An argument escalated into violence when Buckle allegedly struck her on her arm with a machete. He then repeatedly assaulted her across her body with the machete.
Disturbing footage of the incident shows the woman desperately trying to escape as she runs around outside while Buckle chases and beats her. He visibly wields the machete at her, striking her in various places. More than once, he threatens to chop off her head. At one point, she falls to the ground, and he argues while he continues the attack. Bystanders made several attempts to talk the man out of assaulting the woman. However, the assault ended only when two men physically intervened and managed to separate the pair.
Authorities later confirmed that Ulster Spring Police arrested the man on Friday. Police also shared that this was not the only case against Buckle. The Jamaica Constabulary Force announced on Sunday that Buckle is also wanted in connection with a separate investigation.
According to investigators attached to the Trelawny Centre for Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse (CISOCA), the taxi operator is accused of carrying out repeated acts of sexual assault against a minor during 2024.
An arrest warrant had already been issued for Buckle on the sexual offence matter before the machete attack came to light. Buckle is slated to stand before the Ulster Spring Parish Court on October 6 to answer to the unlawful wounding case.
