Cardi B has been facing criticism since she revealed that she is expecting her fourth child, and Stefon Diggs is the father. She recently addressed the talks about her still being married to rapper Offset and made it clear that they are legally separated.
The rapper explained she decided to start a new chapter in her life without finalising the divorce because she refused to meet Offset’s financial demands in the divorce process. She clarified that her ongoing legal marriage is not about love or commitment but rather a matter of contractual obligations, including covering tax bills and transferring property.
“I’m legally separated,” she said firmly. “The only reason why I’m still married is because somebody wants me to pay for their taxes… and give them one of my properties.”
The rapper described the situation as being held hostage in exchange for millions. However, Cardi B insists she will not allow financial pressures to dictate her personal choices.
She also spoke on the effort that she had put into her marriage with Offset, noting that she spent seven years and honoured that commitment fully. She noted that she had done things the right way the first time by getting married and then having kids with Offset.
In her conversation with fans, she also reflected on her commitment to family and her children, stating that she is protective of her kids and refuses to let external opinions interfere with her parenting. She expressed frustration with public commentary and emphasised that she prioritises doing what makes her happy while ensuring stability for her family.
“Y’all want me to remarry and stuff, to have another baby and stuff like that? I’m doing things that make me happy.”
Cardi B’s new album, Am I The Drama?, touches on her personal experiences during her marriage. The album contains tracks such as Man of Your Word, where she details her time with Offset. Her album has already achieved record-breaking success, earning rapid platinum certification and strong fan engagement.
