An 8-year-old girl was reportedly abducted by her neighbour while playing in her backyard. The little girl lives with her mother in Ogontz, Philadelphia. On Tuesday, she was outside playing with other children at her residence on the 5900 block of North 20th Street.
The mother, 28-year-old Nijah Bullock, told reporters that her daughter was playing in their shared yard when she got close to the neighbour’s house. The neighbour then quickly approached her and grabbed her. He reportedly dragged her to his front door and forced her inside. Bollock, a mother of three, said that the neighbour then locked the child inside the house.
The other children were alarmed by the incident and ran to Bollock to alert her. That was when the mother grabbed a bottle of mace and rushed over to her neighbour’s house to confront him. Page also put up a fight and struggled to escape the home, which she ultimately did.
Bullock recalled that when she confronted the neighbour and sprayed her mace at him, he began shooting at her. “About a minute into me spraying the mace, the gunshots went off,” she explained.
Police were soon called to the scene, where they faced a barricade situation. Officers reported that the suspect had locked himself inside with his young son, refusing to answer repeated knocks at the door. Eventually, law enforcement was able to secure the home and take the man into custody. Despite the gunfire, authorities confirmed that no one was physically injured during the incident.
Bullock shared with reporters that she would do whatever it takes to protect her children, despite how terrifying the ordeal may be. “No matter what, I will do anything I have to do before I let anything happen to her or her sisters,” she said firmly. “Whatever comes my way, about the three that I birthed, I’m willing to take it all.”
