A woman, who was discovered injured inside a locked home in Cornwall Mountain, Westmoreland, died in a hospital after being rescued by police. The woman was identified in online reports as Natalie Garden, also known as “Mooney,” though her identity has not been officially confirmed by authorities. Information about the case has been widely shared by vlogger Popeye Newzlynx, who reported that she was from an area near White House, possibly along the Westmoreland–St. Elizabeth border.
According to the account, Natalie had previously exited an abusive relationship before becoming involved with a man identified as Colin James, also known as Andy. James, a 43-year-old welder, was living in a one-bedroom concrete house in Cornwall Mountain. The vlogger alleged that after Natalie moved into the home, she was subjected to repeated abuse.

Police intervention reportedly came on Monday afternoon, December 18, around 4:30 p.m., after officers received intelligence indicating the woman had not been seen for approximately a week and was being beaten regularly. When police arrived at the house, it was said to be securely locked. Officers reportedly looked through a window and observed a woman sitting on a bed. Attempts to communicate with her were unsuccessful, prompting police to force entry.

Once inside, officers allegedly found the woman seated on the bed with her feet tied. She was reportedly dressed only in a sweater and showed visible signs of injury, including multiple cuts, bruises, and severe burns to her left arm, side, and back. According to the report, she appeared disoriented, unable to respond, and possibly in shock. She was transported to Savanna-la-Mar Hospital, where she was treated and admitted for further care.

According to the reports, James returned home later that day to find Natalie gone and learn that the police had removed her. He became agitated and made threats about identifying who had alerted the authorities. Meanwhile, the Police were informed about James’ return and went back to the residence. Officers reportedly parked some distance away and approached the house on foot.

James was reportedly found packing clothing and household items, appearing to prepare to leave. He was taken into custody without incident and charged with assault occasioning grievous bodily harm and unlawful wounding.
On Friday, December 19, Natalie reportedly succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment in the hospital. A post-mortem examination is expected to be carried out as investigations continue. Based on the latest developments, it was reported that murder charges are anticipated in the matter.
