Dancehall artiste KipRich and Kizzy are now mourning the loss of their premature daughter, Miracle, after days of trying to get her advanced medical treatment. The devastating news of their newborn’s passing was released on Thursday morning by the Jamaica Observer.
According to the report, a family member of Kizzy confirmed that the baby died in a statement to the media today. The death came just hours after the couple airlifted the baby to another hospital in Colombia as they worked on raising money to fly her to the United States for better treatment.
A miracle came unexpectedly during the couple’s stay in Colombia. KipRich had a show in Colombia, and Kizzy accompanied him on his work trip after her doctor confirmed that it was safe for her to travel. Kizzy was six months into her pregnancy, and not long after their arrival, she went into early labour.
After she gave birth, welcoming their first baby together, things took a troubling turn. The infant was revealed to be less than 2 pounds and needed immediate care. Miracle was placed in the hospital’s intensive care unit. She remained in an incubator as doctors monitored her, and her parents sought help from the public. KipRich and Kizzy shared that there was limited access to advanced medical facilities in Colombia, making it crucial that they transfer her to the United States.
A GoFundMe campaign was launched to raise funds needed to airlift baby Miracle to the USA for specialised treatment. According to the couple, the cost to fly the baby to the United States was approximately J$40 million. The fundraiser, which had a target of US$250,000, has so far raised over US$27,000.
The couple remained stranded in the South American country with medical bills rising to more than they could imagine. They shared their hardships in frequent live streams, keeping supporters updated about their newborn’s condition. In multiple broadcasts, they described her as a fighter. It is currently unclear what happened after they flew her to the other hospital.
