Rosealee’s sister, Lamarsha, has publicly rejected claims made by Rosealee that she was raped by Jakes. She stated that the sexual encounter she had at the age of 14 years old involved another individual named Miguel, who is now deceased.
Lamarsha, who is reportedly 18 years old, spoke out after her sister Rosealee recently revived allegations that had circulated within the community years earlier. Lamarsha said she had initially avoided speaking publicly about the matter because of the emotional toll it had taken on her, but felt compelled to respond following renewed discussion.
According to Lamarsha, she was shocked that Rosealee would bring the issue to public attention, given the impact the situation had on her life at the time. She explained that the exposure of the incident contributed to her withdrawing from school during her teenage years.
“This mek mi all stop go a school, mi stop go a school from inna grade 10 all because of the video,” she said, referencing footage that is once again circulating showing her in a sexual encounter with a man whose face was not visible.
Rosealee had claimed that the individual in the recording was Jakes, an assertion Lamarsha firmly denied. “The video, Jakes neva inna the video,” she stated, adding that there has never been any intimate relationship between herself and Jakes.
Lamarsha described her relationship with Jakes as familial and supportive rather than romantic or sexual. “Jakes a the brother I never have,” she said, noting that they share a close bond and that she feels comfortable confiding in him.
She maintained that the man in the video was Miguel, whom she identified as her aunt’s child’s father. She said that the sexual encounter happened due to their closeness and because she was young and foolish at the time. She said Miguel liked to video everything, stressing that there would be a video of her and Jakes if he was truly involved. Lamarsha further alleged that Miguel had told Rosealee that Jakes was involved, a claim she said was untrue but one that Rosealee accepted at the time.
Despite her disagreement with her sister’s account, Lamarsha said she does not want the situation to fuel hostility online. She appealed to members of the public to refrain from directing negative comments toward either her or Rosealee, emphasising that she intends to continue defending her sister even amid their differences.
Lamarsha acknowledged that revisiting the events has been difficult, noting that she had hoped to move forward quietly while preserving her relationship with Rosealee. She expressed disappointment that the matter had resurfaced publicly, particularly given what she described as the harsh nature of online commentary.
