TikToker Rosealee publicly voiced concern about her 10-year-old daughter’s behaviour after seeing a circulating video of the child smoking. During a livestream on Monday, Rosealee said that her daughter, Shantau, had been smoking and dancing in footage she recently received.
Rosealee claims that the incident happened after she lost custody of her children, who are now living under the supervision of a guardian. Both she and their father, Jakes, currently have visitation access and are in a legal battle against each other to get full custody of the children.
In the broadcast, Rosealee questioned how Jakes could claim to prioritise the children’s wellbeing while Shantau was engaging in inappropriate behaviour. In the footage, Shantau is in the company of another girl, who Rosealee identified as Amoy, said to be Jake’s cousin’s daughter. Rosealee described the child as a negative influence and blamed Jakes for allowing his relative, who is in grade nine, to be around their child.
The TikToker indicated that the situation developed after she relocated from Seaview Gardens, where the children reside. According to Rosealee, she would be using the video in court to demonstrate that Jakes is unfit to raise their children.
The livestream also featured a confrontation between Rosealee and her youngest sister, whom she asked whether she had been present when the incident occurred. Her sister denied witnessing the event, stating it took place at Amoy’s home while she was elsewhere.
However, the exchange intensified, with Rosealee accusing her sibling, like her daughter, of associating with unsuitable company. The sister maintained that she was not at the house at the time and insisted Shantau went to Amoy’s residence on her own.
Jakes later responded online to Rosealee’s criticism of his parenting. He argued that both he and Rosealee had lost custody of the children, so how would he be responsible for her current behaviour? He stated that if Rosealee is blaming him, then she should also take accountability for her influence on the child.
He confirmed that Shantau and her cousin had been vaping and recording themselves dancing, describing the behaviour as misguided but beyond his direct control since the child was not living with him.
Jakes also questioned Rosealee’s decision to address the matter publicly, suggesting that the online dispute had drawn criticism toward the child. He contended that attempts to criticise him were inadvertently exposing the minor to negative attention.
However, Rosealee issued a warning to Jakes, implying that he would be held accountable if the children were not properly guided while they were not in her care.
