A video allegedly showing a man being beaten while in police custody has been making the rounds on social media. The man, identified only as Jaymar, appears in the footage restrained in handcuffs at a police station in Westmoreland. At the start of the video, a struggle is already underway between him and multiple police officers. The situation quickly escalates, with officers seen hitting and dragging him while he remains restrained.
The incident was reportedly captured by someone close to Jaymar, who can be heard throughout the recording questioning the officers’ actions. At one point, the person filming challenges the officers, asking, “Weh unuh a beat him ina di handcuff fah?” as the confrontation continues.
While it has been alleged that Jaymar was resisting arrest, the exact circumstances leading up to the incident remain unclear. Later, he was seemingly placed in the chair, and despite being seated and restrained by what were allegedly two sets of handcuffs, tensions inside the station did not subside.

A particularly alarming moment in the video occurs when an officer who was not dressed in the full denim uniform like the others switches off the lights inside the station, plunging the area into darkness. Seconds later, the figures of Jaymar and two officers are again seen in what appears to be another struggle.
The bystanders present, including the person recording, immediately and repeatedly ask why the lights were turned off. The officer responsible is soon heard arguing with the cameraman, challenging him about why he was recording and what he hoped to prove.
Despite the darkness, an individual at the scene used their flashlight on their phone to illuminate the area, allowing parts of the incident to remain visible. The person recording can also be heard stating that a lawyer had already been contacted and would be arriving the following day.

During the confrontation, Jaymar reportedly indicated that the handcuffs were too tight, suggesting discomfort. At one stage, one of the officers also began recording the situation on his own phone, as tensions continued to rise.
Although one of the handcuffs appeared to have been removed at some point, the situation remained volatile. Efforts by onlookers to have the lights restored were unsuccessful, and the person filming continued urging Jaymar to remain calm, even suggesting to the officers that he was unwell.
The situation seemed to briefly settle before escalating again when the same officer who had turned off the lights returned, this time holding a firearm and aggressively confronting Jaymar. A female officer was forced to intervene, escorting him outside. In the video, his actions sparked accusations that he intended to use the weapon against the restrained man.

Moments later, the officer returned but kept his distance, while another officer warned Jaymar that failure to comply could result in charges. The exchange soon turned heated again after Jaymar responded with a very offensive Jamaican curse phrase.
The video, which surfaced around Sunday, has since gone viral, with public opinion divided. Some viewers argue that the man was resisting and warranted force, while others have condemned the officers’ actions as excessive, particularly given that he was already restrained.
The Jamaica Constabulary Force has not issued an official statement addressing the incident.
