Two newly surfaced videos have shed disturbing light on the fatal crash along Spur Tree Hill in Manchester that claimed the lives of two people earlier this week.
The first clip, captured shortly before daybreak, shows the immediate scene following the crash. In the footage, the female passenger is seen lying face down on the ground. She is among the wreckage along the steep incline. The video also captures the debris scattered across the area around her.
There is no visible movement from the woman in the video, which was recorded by an onlooker moments after the tractor plunged off the roadway.
A second video, taken later in the morning after daylight, shows emergency responders at the crash site. Firefighters are seen strapping her onto a spine board as they work to remove her from the scene. She still shows no signs of movement. The driver was not captured in either of the clips.
The incident occurred shortly after 5:00 a.m. on Tuesday when a tractor transporting cement reportedly lost control while travelling along the notorious Spur Tree Hill roadway. The vehicle swerved off the road and tumbled approximately 80 metres down a precipice, overturning multiple times. Both occupants were thrown from the unit during the fall.
Firefighters from the Mandeville station responded and searched the area. Initial checks suggested one individual showed signs of life, while the other did not. Both were transported to the hospital, where the female passenger, whose identity has not yet been disclosed, was pronounced dead. The driver, 25-year-old Jordan Sterling, later succumbed to his injuries despite medical efforts.
The crash also caused damage to a utility pole, leaving wires down and forcing traffic to be reduced to a single lane. Authorities continue to urge motorists to exercise caution when traversing Spur Tree Hill, a roadway long associated with deadly crashes.
