Afrobeats singer Davido has a treat for fans with his upcoming album, 5ive. Davido is set to ignite the music scene once again with the release of 5ive, which blends multiple genres. The album drops on April 18, 2025, and fans will be graced with a fusion of dancehall and Afrobeats, as the project features collaborations with Shenseea and 450.
Shenseea and 450 are two prominent Jamaican dancehall artistes, who are bringing their signature sound to this album. Their collaborations will not only add fresh new sounds but also broaden the audience, reaching more fans with their unique style.
The fusion of Afrobeats and dancehall is a growing trend, with artistes from both genres teaming up to create dynamic, energetic music. Davido’s love for Caribbean music is clear, as it is not the first time he has teamed with some of Jamaica’s hottest dancehall artists. Several years ago, the Nigerian artiste and dancehall star Popcaan released their hit song Risky.
“Jamaican and Caribbean culture mean so much to me”,” he recently expressed in an interview, underscoring his commitment to blending these dynamic styles.
On one side of the collaboration is 450, a Jamaican deejay known for hits like Cold Streets and Journey. The deejay has a talent for creating emotionally resonant tracks that fans connect to. Additionally, the deejay is gearing up for the release of his debut album, Pieces of Me. He will also be thrust into the spotlight by his upcoming three-city UK tour this May. Fans can catch some of his live performances at renowned venues, including the O2 Academy in Bristol and London’s Roundhouse.
The other collaborator, Shenseea, is known for her fresh take on modern dancehall. The Jamaican singer has hits like Blessed featuring international rap star Tyga and Hit and Run featuring Jamaican dancehall artiste Masicka. She was also featured on Kanye West’s highly successful album Donda. Her international appeal continues to extend as she adds her own flavour to Afrobeats music, such as her latest Shake It To The Max remix with Ghanaian singer Moliy and dancehall artist Skillibeng.
