A surveillance camera in a suburb of Baltimore, Maryland, captured an Amazon delivery driver involved in a hit-and-run. The incident occurred on Tuesday night and involved a 29-year-old woman who was crossing the street.
The footage shows the driver driving forward when the light changes to green.
However, he strikes down a woman. The police reported that the woman was crossing the street when she was struck by the delivery van, according to TMZ. The woman screams when she is hit by the van, which slowly drives over her body and drags her along the asphalt.
The driver briefly stops his vehicle, but he does the unthinkable when he resumes driving over her with the back wheels. This leads to more chilling shrieks from the woman. After running her over, the man stops the vehicle and exits to check on her while she continues to cry.
However, in a shocking turn of events, he only assesses her injuries briefly from different angles before he heads back to his vehicle and drives off.
According to the report, the woman was assisted by multiple individuals who saw her lying motionless on the road. It is unclear how soon after the man left she was assisted, but there are other vehicles visible in the video that slow down, halting as the incident unfolds.
Fortunately, the 29-year-old woman was confirmed to have non-critical injuries when she was taken to the hospital.
According to TMZ, a spokesperson from Amazon described what happened as a “terrible incident” and told the media that the driver was suspended. An investigation has also been launched, and the company is working with the police.
