Annie has pushed back against claims made by her ex-boyfriend Yankee regarding their Valentine’s Day engagement, insisting that she never pressured him into proposing and disputing his account of how the ring was obtained. According to Annie, Yankee had informed her on Valentine’s Day that he wanted to do something special but was short on funds, prompting her to give him close to US$200.
She said he later left with her car, purchased gifts and reportedly concealed them ahead of the proposal. However, Annie claimed she became aware of the items beforehand after Yankee showed fans the gifts and engagement ring online prior to presenting them to her.
She recounted that the proposal took place at a restaurant, where Yankee allegedly coordinated the moment by instructing the DJ on which song to play before getting down on one knee and asking her to marry him. Annie maintained that the gesture was entirely his decision and rejected suggestions that she orchestrated or forced the proposal as part of a publicity move.
Addressing further details surrounding the ring, Annie alleged that Yankee had previously told her that he and his mother jointly paid for it because he could not afford the full cost alone. She also claimed that his mother insisted the ring be blessed before it was handed over, adding that prayers were said over the item on the same night as the proposal. Annie said these circumstances contradict Yankee’s public statements, suggesting she purchased the ring herself.
She questioned why Yankee would portray the engagement as staged, arguing that he was attempting to create an image of a picture-perfect relationship for online audiences. Annie further alleged that he was influenced by associates who encouraged him to maintain appearances on social media rather than be transparent with her about his intentions.
According to Annie, she had made it clear from the beginning of their relationship that honesty was important, given their public presence online, warning that undisclosed matters could eventually surface. She said she had openly shared aspects of her own past, including difficult experiences, and felt betrayed by what she described as Yankee’s lack of openness.
The dispute has since escalated into legal talk, with Annie indicating that she is prepared to respond if Yankee proceeds with any legal action against her over the circulation of the explicit video. She said she would consider filing a countersuit should the matter enter the courts.
She alleges that Yankee spread false narratives about her online and claims he raped her when she confronted him about the sexual video. Annie might likely sue for defamation of character and sexual assault, as she reiterated these claims on Friday amid her threats of legal action.
