An arrest warrant was issued for Fast & Furious actor Tyrese Gibson after his dogs reportedly mauled a neighbour’s pet to death. Gibson vanished from his Atlanta home along with his Cane Corso dogs, which are said to be responsible for killing a 5-year-old King Charles Cavalier Spaniel named Henry on September 18.
Fulton County Police say Gibson repeatedly ignored warnings about his four Cane Corsos running loose in the Buckhead neighbourhood. Captain Nicole Dwyer of Fulton County Animal Services explained that his negligence directly led to the tragedy. “It is the negligence on his part as the homeowner and animal owner, just letting them roam free,” Dwyer told local media. “And now they have killed an innocent animal.”
The attack unfolded when Henry’s owner let the spaniel outside briefly, only to find him dead minutes later. Security cameras reportedly captured Gibson’s dogs wandering the area and scratching at a neighbour’s door shortly before the fatal mauling. According to reports, other residents had also raised concerns. In fact, just before the attack, a woman called 911, saying she was too afraid to get into her car because Gibson’s dogs were standing outside.
After the killing, Gibson initially told authorities he would surrender his dogs. However, when officers arrived on September 22, he requested several more days to decide. By the time a search warrant was executed, neither Gibson nor the animals could be found at the residence, per reports.
County officials stressed the seriousness of the case, saying, “Pet ownership is a responsibility that is not to be taken lightly. Those who allow their dogs to roam neighbourhoods unrestrained will face serious consequences,” said Robb Pitts, chairman of the Fulton County Board of Commissioners.
Tyrese Gibson is now wanted on a charge of animal cruelty. His whereabouts, and those of his dogs, remain unknown.
