Jamaican sprint legend Asafa Powell and his wife, Alyshia Miller-Powell, have announced that they are expecting a third child together. The joyous news was shared through a heartwarming YouTube video and teased in an Instagram post on Thursday, exciting fans.
The pregnancy reveal video featured Alyshia showcasing her positive pregnancy tests to the public and captured Asafa’s stunned reaction to the news. Asafa, known for his cool demeanour on the track, was obviously caught off guard by the results, as his reaction was a mix of shock and nervous laughter.
After breaking out into what appeared to be a nervous yet humorous prayer, Asafa said, “The Lord will provide, OMG…those two boys don’t even know what’s coming. I have to prepare myself for sleepless nights.”
In the video, Alyshia explained that she had been feeling unusually exhausted, nauseous, and out of breath, which led her to take a pregnancy test. She said that her heart was racing while she anxiously waited for the test results, which shows she is “very much pregnant.”
The video fast-forwards to several days after taking the test, showing Alyshia documenting her experience. She added that she is around seven weeks pregnant, and she has been taking prenatal vitamins. Alyshia firmly declared that this would be their last baby, promising to get an IUD as soon as the baby is born. “This is the last… The minute this baby is out, IUD right in,” she said. Asafa also strongly agreed that this would be their last child.
She continued to share that she has been extremely nauseous and vomiting, with even the smells inside the supermarket triggering her nausea. Asafa and Alyshia, who tied the knot in 2019, are already proud parents to two children together. This third child will mark Asafa’s fifth, as he has children from previous relationships.
Additionally, Alyshia humorously noted that Asafa seemed to be experiencing sympathy symptoms, as he also felt nauseous and struggled with eating certain foods. In the video, she laughed at him for being unwell while he tried to play it off.
