It has been announced that the bodies of two individuals who were swept away by high currents of water on Tuesday have been recovered. The announcement, which was made on Thursday, detailed that the bodies were identified as Junior Gooden and Terrica Green.
On Tuesday afternoon, a man and a woman were washed away during the heavy rain when Hurricane Rafael passed near the island as a tropical storm. The incident occurred in Worthy Park, St. Catherine, and a video was shared online showing a pickup truck being carried away in a flooded area.
According to Thursday’s report, the police found the man and the woman were found still inside the pickup truck. The police had to get assistance from a wrecker to remove the bodies from the vehicle.
Additionally, the news report detailed that a firearm was located on the rare seat of the vehicle. An investigation has since been launched by the Shady Grove police.
This is the only fatality that has so far been reported due to the storm. The storm brought strong winds and heavy rain to sections of Jamaica and several areas were flooded. Reports have also been made that Rafael caused severe damage to roads in suburban areas, and a bridge was also affected.
