Dancehall veteran Bounty Killer has stirred fresh controversy online after suggesting that Vybz Kartel’s dominance in dancehall is fading while hinting at plans to release a diss track aimed at the deejay.
The remarks were made in the comments section of Bounty Killer’s latest Instagram post, where he continued his recent trend of openly supporting fellow entertainer Masicka. The post featured a clip from Masicka’s Grandfather music video, accompanied by a caption in which Bounty hailed the deejay as the “baddest thing bout ya.”

However, the display of support has not sat well with Kartel’s Gaza fanbase, particularly amid the ongoing rift between Masicka and Kartel. The feud between Masicka and Kartel became public when Masicka took lyrical jabs at Kartel late last year. Since then, Bounty, Kartel’s former mentor, has been publicly showering Masicka with praise.
One user suggested the veteran was moving with a “badmind spirit,” prompting Bounty Killer to reject the claim and defend his support of Masicka, while implying critics were uneasy about the emergence of a “new king.”

Another commenter, ty_legendary, insisted that Gaza still dominates the scene, prompting Bounty Killer to respond bluntly that the “ship sinking” and advising the fan to “save yuh self while yuh can.”

Criticism continued from user dennisshaun, who accused Bounty Killer of making disingenuous posts intended to throw shade. In response, the deejay maintained that he does not operate indirectly and hinted that a song tied to the brewing tension could be released soon, declaring “war mi say.”

Calls for lyrical confrontation also surfaced, with one fan urging Bounty to deliver a diss track. The deejay appeared receptive to the idea, responding that listeners should be ready when he “diss di sheep’s and di shepherd.”

The debate even pulled in Tommy Lee Sparta, born Leroy Junior Russell, after a commenter referenced the artiste during the discussion. In response, Bounty suggested that Tommy Lee has been missing in dancehall and continued to emphasise that the “ship sinking.”

Amid the back-and-forth, Masicka himself entered the comments section, offering a brief but notable response under the post. The deejay acknowledged Bounty Killer’s endorsement with a message of gratitude, writing, “Big up me general.”
