A man was fatally shot in the head 24 hours after a confrontation with an emerging female rapper known as BabyyThreat. While police have not yet confirmed if the assault, which was caught on surveillance footage, is linked to the man’s murder, online speculation indicates that the shooting stemmed from the incident.
Police say the man was shot outside a Bronx smoke shop on August 7. Although his identity has not been disclosed, officials stated that he is 33 years old. He was shot at close range around 10:30 p.m. just outside the Exotic World Smoke Shop on Westchester Avenue in Soundview.
In newly released footage of the man’s murder, the man is seen standing on the sidewalk smoking when an assailant in a mask and dark clothing approaches. The gunman quickly pulls out a firearm, rushes forward, and fires a single shot at point-blank range.
There are several others on the sidewalk, but when they become aware of the situation, everyone begins to run to safety. The victim collapses instantly as the shooter flees the scene.
According to reports, police were called to the scene to find the victim lying on the sidewalk. He was discovered with a gunshot wound to the head and was transported to Jacobi Medical Centre. However, he succumbed to his injuries.
Investigators believe the killing may have been targeted. A violent altercation involving the man and an upcoming Bronx rapper, BabyyThreat, just one night earlier, but the police have not confirmed if it played a role in the deadly encounter.
It’s unclear what caused the dispute between the man and the entertainer, but a CCTV camera captured him punching the entertainer in the face. She fell to the ground after being hit, which is when the clip ends. So far, no arrests have been made, and the suspect remains at large.
