Surveillance footage has surfaced online showing an elderly man getting into a fight with a male customer inside a Michigan gas station. The fight escalated, resulting in the elderly man and his wife holding the customer at gunpoint. A news report revealed that the man is the director of Wayne County’s park division. The county official, Larry Bradford, and his wife, Alicia, now face severe consequences for their actions.
The fight in the gas station stemmed from an argument over a can of soda. The incident occurred after midnight on New Year’s Day. Bradford attempted to purchase a Mountain Dew at a BP gas station in Farmington Hills.
However, Bradford believed he was being overcharged, which resulted in him staying at the counter to discuss his concerns with the clerk. The other male customer, waiting to purchase something, joined the conversation, defending the price, which displeased Bradford.
An argument erupted between the two after the customer hurled an expletive. Within seconds, they started to fight, and Bradford seemingly used the can to strike the customer repeatedly.
Shortly after, Bradford leaves the store and returns with a loaded firearm, ordering the man to apologise on his knees. He also threatened to kill him, and when his wife came in, she took over. She held the customer at gunpoint and argued with him. She also threatened that she could hurt him with the weapon.
Both Bradford and Alicia were charged by the Oakland County Prosecutor’s office with assault with a dangerous weapon and felony firearm. Bradford was suspended without pay, and Alicia, who earns $146,000 annually at her county job, was also suspended without pay.
