Felicia Gooden, known in the dancehall arena as Lisa Hyper, is preparing for a bold musical comeback amid her legal issues. The Jamaican artiste recently revealed that she is working on an EP titled The Golden Fleece, according to a report. The project marks a significant step in her career as signals her efforts to reclaim her position in dancehall while balancing the weight of legal battles and personal struggles.
The former Gaza member described the project as a representation of a personal transformation, according to Prism Marketing Consultants. Instead of stepping away from music during her legal setbacks and mental health issues, Lisa’s resilience pushes her to embrace her experiences as inspiration for her new project, per the report.
Speaking with Prism Marketing Consultants, she said, “I believe I am a Golden Fleece,” referring to the EP’s title and suggesting a sense of spiritual and emotional rebirth. While the release date remains uncertain, Lisa noted that the project would drop “whenever the universe says the time is right”.
The EP is comprised of seven songs and is expected to reflect a more introspective and mature tone. During the exclusive interview, Lisa did not confirm any guest features. However, she also indicated that she is playing a major role in the production process.
The news of Lisa’s EP comes amid her disorderly conduct charge in Kingston. She was recently freed from a bench warrant that was issued after she failed to attend a February court hearing. The warrant was cancelled after her legal team presented medical documentation justifying her absence. The case has been rescheduled for May 22.
She also had another breakthrough with her legal issues in the United States after a trespassing charge in Florida was dismissed. The dismissal stemmed from the complainant’s failure to appear in court. Aside from her legal battles, Lisa Hyper recently experienced a manic episode earlier this year, which sparked concern among fans and supporters. She was later hospitalised at the University Hospital of the West Indies.
