Prominent dancehall artiste Skeng is trending on YouTube with his latest release, Black Rain. The song is currently at No. 3 on YouTube’s trending chart in Jamaica. On January 16, Skeng released Black Rain, along with visuals, which has since amassed over 890,000 views. The song was produced by DJ Mack and Raheem Wid The Book and composed by BlackTheMan, while the music video was directed by AfricanKydd and 9mile.
The gangster song features grimy lyrics about gun violence as Skeng details the lifestyle of a fearless killer. His gritty delivery and smooth flow help to make the dancehall song an anthem for gangsters.
In the lyrics, Skeng indicates that his enemies are not as bad as he is, and he could make their heads roll easily. While warning that he left the last disrespectful person decapitated, he boasts about having an army of goons. He also makes it clear that he does not care where his foe is; whether at home in bed or outside, he would squeeze the trigger.
“Dem bwoy deh don’t bad at all. Di last man dis, head a boom like a ball. A black rain fall anytime when mi talk. Thousand man strong a yuh front a yuh yard,” he deejays in the chorus.
In the music video, he is captured with his goons, smoking, drinking, and flaunting a gun. The video is shot mostly outdoors at night and features fellow deejay Rajah Wild.
