Jamaican Dancehall artiste Squash has allegedly been arrested in Florida. The police report of his arrest has been circulating social media, showing that the deejay is facing multiple gun charges.
According to a report, he was taken into custody Tuesday morning by the Miami-Dade County Sheriff’s Office. Squash, whose given name is Andre Whittaker, is reportedly facing charges of carrying a concealed weapon and possession of a machine gun, a short-barrel shotgun, and a rifle.
Based on the circulating report, Squash’s bond has not yet been set. Additionally, the document showed that an immigration hold was placed on Squash. This is not the first time the deejay has been apprehended by police in America.
Squash was arrested on immigration-related charges in Florida in 2023. According to the Jamaica Observer, the dancehall artiste was apprehended because he overstayed on his work visa. It was revealed on May 22, 2023, that he was held at an ICE detention facility, Krome North Service Processing Center, in Miami.
Additionally, Squash was arrested in Jamaica under a State Of Emergency (SOE) operation in St. James in August 2018. The operation was implemented to tackle the increased crime and violence in the parish. Squash was released in January 2019 after spending five months in police custody. He was never formally charged.
Later in 2019, Squash left the country to perform in the United States, marking his first live show in America. While Squash has associates who have been linked with criminal activities, Squash has maintained that his not a criminal. In 2022, he was accused of being involved in illicit gang activities, and the deejay strongly denied the allegations.
In one incident he told the public, “Stop mix up man in ah no violence and crime business bredda. Music man ah do ova yah suh bredda, strictly music man do ova yah suh band man!” Squash also expressed in an interview with Winford Williams that he is a “jovial person” and not a “violent man.”
Squash hails from Montego Bay and he is the leader of the 6ixxx clan. Some of his well-known songs are Beat Dem Bad featuring Vybz Kartel, Sweepstake, Trending, Ambala, and Ohh Lala La.
