Dancehall artiste Chronic Law was reportedly taken into custody by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The detainment occurred on Tuesday, and he has not been released.
Though details about the exact reasons or where he is being held remain unclear, his team confirmed his arrest, according to a report. The representative, speaking to Nationwide News, only shared that the deejay was arrested in Florida.
While ICE has not released specifics about his arrest, his legal name, Ackeme Jermaine Campbel, is present on the ICE website as a detainee. When news of his detainment hit the internet on Wednesday, a mugshot of the entertainer began circulating online as internet users linked the photo to his arrest.
However, the mugshot dates back to November 15, 2025, when Chronic Law ran into trouble with the law over alleged traffic violations, per the report. During that period, Chronic Law was apprehended in Turner County, Georgia.

He faced multiple traffic-related charges, including attempting to flee the police, reckless driving, improper lane change, failure as a driver to exercise due care, and speeding.
He was only formally charged for driving offences, and, according to officials, he had no further encounters with law enforcement in the county since that arrest.
Chronic Law is widely known in the dancehall space for his gritty music. He rose to prominence not just as a solo act but also as a member of the Sixx (6ixx) music group, alongside fellow Jamaican artistes Squash and Daddy One. Chronic was honoured last December when Spotify named him the most-streamed dancehall artiste on the platform for 2025.
Fans have expressed shock and concern over the news of his ICE detainment, while others have speculated on whether it could be related to his prior legal issues in Georgia. At this point, there’s no official confirmation connecting the two incidents.
