Beenie Man has been in hot water in recent times, facing backlash online for refusing to pass down the King of Dancehall crown, disrespecting the Trinidadian cuisine, and reportedly not doing right by his children. So far, the dancehall veteran has expressed his regrets for one of these controversies and issued a public apology.
In response to the heated clapback from Trinidadians, Beenie Man took to the internet to explain he did not intend to disrespect the Trinidadian street food Doubles. Beenie previously made an insensitive remark about the street food when asked to share his thoughts about it during an interview.
While Beenie Man said he tried Doubles multiple times and thought it had a nice taste, he could not eat it because a dog would not eat it. He claimed he threw the food to a dog, and the dog refused it so he could not eat it either.

In his apology, he expressed that he meant it as a joke and that he did not mean to offend anyone. Reiterating that he tried to eat it multiple times. However, it apparently was not to his liking, leading him to throw it to the dog, and the dog refused it.
“I am greatly apologising to all the Trinidadians that live around the world that eat Doubles. When I said it, it was a joke… I don’t disrespect any Trinidadian,” he said and emphasised his love for Trinidad. “I’m sincerely sorry if I hurt anybody… I am sorry… You will never hear that again from me. I will never do that again.”
