For the very first time, music enthusiasts will be treated to a full reggae album from dancehall veteran Bounty Killer. The deejay shared that he is focused on delivering an album solely comprised of reggae songs this year. Bounty, born Rodney Price, spoke about his musical endeavours for 2025, expressing that he is trying something different.
“I have been doing reggae, but just one or two times, never a full body of work with reggae. So that’s my main project that I am working on for 2025,” he stated, according to Prism Marketing Consultant.
The album, titled Instant Classic, will consist of positive, motivational songs reflecting the roots of Jamaican music. As per the report, the album will be produced by Jazzward, who produced multiple hits, including “Coppershot” and “Book Book Book.”
The album might feature collaborations with reggae icons. Bounty had hinted in the past that he might join forces with Marcia Griffiths and Richie Stephens. Bounty has not shared when fans can expect the album, but it seems as if it may be sometime this year.
Bounty has been a pillar in the dancehall industry for over three decades. He is renowned for his gritty musical delivery, and he also has a reputation for being an unapologetic spokesperson for poor people. Known as the “Poor People Governor,” Bounty’s controversial commentaries at times ignite criticism, but his beliefs are unwavering.
The deejay, who is also known as the Grung Godzilla, recently hosted his Bounty Killer & Friends concert. The concert was a success with performances from Richie Stephens, Busy Signal, Cham, Agent Sasco, and Popcaan at Sabina Park in Kingston. Vybz Kartel was also present at the event, much to the delight of fans.
