A deadly shooting at a car wash in Sorocaba, Brazil, on Saturday, May 24, left two brothers dead and another man seriously injured. Surveillance cameras captured the victims, aged 34 and 40, being killed in what Military Police described as an execution-style attack. Reports say the police believe the brothers were murdered by a customer.
According to KrudPlug, the incident unfolded after an argument over the sale of a vehicle, which began the day before in the Wanel Ville community. The brothers, whose identities have not been disclosed, were managing a store next to the car wash on Avenida Elias Maluf. On May 23, the brothers and the suspect had reportedly argued about the terms of the vehicle sale. The suspect returned the following day, armed.
Initial reports suggested the brothers were shot while inside a moving vehicle. However, surveillance footage later confirmed a different sequence of events, beginning with two armed men approaching the car wash in a vehicle.
They exit the vehicle, and while one enters the premises, the other lingers outside, waiting for one of the targets, who is approaching with a man. The gunman opens fire at the victim outside, before entering the business place, where his accomplice eliminates the other brother. The first suspect also fires shots at the brother lying on the ground.
The 34-year-old and 40-year-old brothers were pronounced dead at the scene. A third man, aged 38, was also shot and sustained serious injuries. He received immediate medical attention from the Mobile Emergency Care Service (SAMU) and was transported to the Sorocaba Hospital Complex (CHS), where his condition has been stabilised.
The Military Police are treating the attack as a targeted execution stemming from the earlier dispute. The suspects fled the scene, and so far, no arrests have been made. The Civil Police are probing the circumstances surrounding the murder.
